EMIFPA Update – Sept 27, 2017

Fire managers with the Sandia Ranger District within the Cibola National Forest are planning prescribed fire activity next week on up to 600 acres in David Canyon.   Planned ignition days are October 2nd-4th.

Fire managers with the Mountainair Ranger District within the Cibola National Forest are planning prescribed fire activity as early as next week within the Thunderbird Ecosystem Management Project area.

If conditions are suitable, fire crews will burn 166 acres south of Thunderbird private property just south of FR # 275. This is the first of two planned burns. The second burn is approximately 600 acres east of Thunderbird private property, on the north side of FR # 275.

Green Waste Days are underway for Bernalillo County residents. During this period, green waste is accepted without charge at the East Mountain Transfer Station in Tijeras.   Green Waste Days continue through this coming Sunday, October 1.

The September monthly EMIFPA membership meeting will be held at 9:00 AM this Thursday, September 28, at the McGrane Public Safety Building in Tijeras.

EMIFPA’s final 2017 Fire Season monthly community information series session will be held at the East Mountain Public Library at 5:30 PM this Thursday, September 28, in the Library’s Community Room.
